Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a male herbalist (babalawo) for being in possession of a fresh male corpse. The suspect identified as Babatunde Kolawole was apprehended in the Ado-Odo Ota area of the state by vigilantes known the Amotekun Corps. Upon discovery, the babalawo had claimed to have been in the process of reviving the corpse but failed to explain how he came in possession of it. The members of the Amotekun Corps subsequently handed him over to the police.

The Ota Police Command via its spokesperson and Public Relations Officer SP Omolola Odutola, gave a press release stating that preliminary investigation has commenced to ascertain how the suspect obtained the corpse. The police further revealed that at the time of the statement, no one had reported a recent case of missing person nor had anyone come forward to claim the corpse discovered with the supposed herbalist. The Command implored members of the Ado-Odo Ota community to assist the force in their investigation as well as provide information on any unusual occurrence in the area.
