35 year old Ashley Summers passed away on 6th July, from drinking too much water. The mother of two had been celebrating the Independence Day weekend by boating on Lake Freeman with her husband and daughters Saturday July 1 through Tuesday July 4, something she and her family loved to do together. Ashley developed a headache on Tuesday during a boat ride and said she felt like she couldn't get enough water and drank four bottles of water in the 20 minutes it took the family to have the boat ride. Walking into her home later that day, Ashley passed out and never woke up again. Her death on July 6 was the result of water intoxication, also known as water toxicity.

According to doctors, water toxicity is a relatively rare condition that has to do with the sodium levels in the bloodstream. When Ashley drank all that water within such a short period, her sodium levels became too low, causing her cells to fill with water and swell, including the cells in her brain. According to her family, Ashley Summers was an organ donor and was able to donate her he@rt, liv£r, lungs, kidneys and some of her long bone tissue, ultimately saving five other lives.
May the beloved soul of Ashley Summers rest in peace.
