The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a certain Salisu Lawan for the murder of his father, Usman Bello. According to reports, 22 year old Salisu who accused 65 year old father of witchcraft, had murdered him by viciously slamming a pestle on the old man's head. The incident which took place in Akko Local Government Area of the state, was brought to public attention on Wednesday 9th August 2023, by spokesperson of the command, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar.

ASP Abubakar expressed concern over the increasing number of murder cases linked to witchcraft, where individuals claim to have seen others in their dreams and subsequently assume they are responsible for their misfortunes, leading to acts of violence. The spokesperson mentioned another case involving an elderly man who sought assistance from a young man to cross a stream but was attacked with a plank and his body dumped in a river. ASP Abubakar further urged the public to refrain from engaging in such acts as such brutality was serious offence that could earn culprits prison sentence.
