A South African Anglican clergyman identified as Reverend Lefoko Mogotsi, took to the social media to announce his intention to quit the priesthood after 9 years of being in the clergy. The priest explained that he took the difficult decision to step away from his vocation in order to pay attention to his mental health. In a TikTok video, Reverend Mogotsi sadly explained that he had been battling depression and anxiety for several years, and the pressures associated with his role as a priest had profoundly affected his overall health. He further revealed that he was thrice admitted in the psych in year 2022 and had also been admitted once this year.

In Reverend Lefoko Mogotsi's words: "After 9 years of being a priest, I am making the hardest decision of my life. I’ve decided to let go of my calling for the sake of my mental health. I am walking away. Judge me all you want.” The priest clarified to the curious public that he was not a Roman Catholic priest but an Anglican priest (A Reverend) with a wife and children. He assured his concerned followers that he had made the right choice for his personal journey. The now former Reverend implored them to keep him in their prayers.
