A part of the Ife Grand Resort, located in Ile-Ife, Osun State, a luxurious recreation facility owned by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, was on the evening of Monday 24th July 2023, engulfed in a fire outbreak. According to eyewitness reports, the fire started in one of the bars located within the resort and rapidly spread to other parts of the facility. The exact cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be determined by the fire service. This fire outbreak is reportedly the second fire incident since the resort was first commissioned in 2020.

Spokesperson of the Osun Fire Service, Ibrahim Adekunle who publicly confirmed the incident, revealed that firemen received a distress call from the resort some minutes before 7:00pm. While assuring that no life was lost in the fire, Ibrahim Adekunle stated that details of the fire and its cause would be thoroughly investigated as soon as possible. In the fireman's words: "The men left the area and informed me that the fire has been put off about 9:17pm. Further details of what happened would be made available as we get them."
