The corpse of a young woman identified as Chinyere Awuda, has been discovered in the swimming pool of Cosmila Hotel, a popular hotel and club located in Awka, Anambra state. According to reports, the deceased had been present at the club section of the hotel called Club Mila, when another club attendee named Gabriel Chinemere in company of his friends, teamed up to physically assualt her. Reports further explained that the physical assault and heavy beating had taken place in the presence of the club manager who ordered the establishment's security operatives to refrain from stopping Gabriel and his friends. Instead, the club manager had ordered that the lights be turned off as the men continued the physical assault which would eventually lead to their throwing Chinyere's body in the club's pool.

Upon receiving news of their daughter's brutal assault, relatives of Chinyere Awuda stormed the club only to discover her corpse in the hotel's pool. They reported the tragic incident to the Anambra State Police who commenced the process of recovering Chinyere's lifeless body from the pool. The Anambra State Police Spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident stated that the suspect was already in police custody while the case is undergoing investigation. He urged all parties involved to trust the law and its due process.
