An Israeli national identified as Raed Wated has been arrested by police in Mpigi district Uganda, over the murder of his 26 year old Ugandan wife, Monica Nabukenya. According to reports, the now arrested Israeli Male had confessed to killing his wife on Friday 14 July, because he discovered through DNA testing that one of their children(a six month old) was not biologically his. Nabukenya’s decomposing body had been discovered in a cesspool pit at their home in Kayabwe in Mpigi District, where Wated had dumped it after the murder.

The 58 year old Israeli had initially reported his wife's disappearance to the police in an attempt to divert attention and stall investigation. Confirming the incident on Wednesday, July 19, Dauda Hirigi Were, the Katonga Regional Police commander, said the suspect reconstructed the murder for investigators. In the police commander's words: "He confessed that he killed the wife because what she did — to sire a child with another man — is an abomination in their culture.”
