Supermodel Gigi Hadid has been arrested and charged by custom officials for marijuana possession.
The 28-year model was reportedly arrested and charged with possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia after she flew to the Cayman Islands from the USA last week.
According to E News, Hadid was embarking on a girls' trip to the Cayman Islands on July 10 when she was arrested at Owen Roberts International Airport.
Cayman Marl Road reported that shortly after the model and a friend of hers identified as McCarthy arrived through a private plane, custom officials allegedly found "ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja" in their luggage.
She and her friend were subsequently arrested on "suspicion Importation of Ganja and Importation of Utensils used for the consumption of ganja".
They were then taken to the Prisoner Detention Center, where they were released on bail, according to the local news outlet.
Despite the marijuana being determined to be for 'personal use only', Hadid and her friend McCarthy were arrested on charges of importation of marijuana and importation of utensils to smoke the cannabis.
According to Cayman Marl Road, they were formally charged two days later (July 13) and in the court appearance, they pleaded guilty to the charge but were both fined $1,000.
