Resident pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Ona Iwa-Mimo, Iwaro Oka Akoko in Ondo State, Friday Okeneji, has been sentenced to two years in prison for the the theft of chemicals worth #130,000 naira. The pastor who reportedly committed the crime on 2nd July 2023, was handed his two year sentence by an Akure Magistrate Court. According to the trial magistrate Damilola Sekoni, Friday's sentence also comes with an option of a #100,000 naira fine. The magistrate also advised the convict to turn a new leaf and embody true Christian virtues as well as be prayerful as stated in the scriptures.

29 year old Friday Okeneji who pled guilty to the two count charge levelled against him, informed the court that he had committed the crime in order to survive. He stated that he had been desperately in need of the sum of #150,000 naira in order to fund his allotted share of his mother's funeral expense set to take place in August. Friday Okeneji implored that he had resorted to theft because he had tried and failed to raise the required sum of #150,000 naira as he had no means of livelihood.
Hmmmmn I know it is not easy anywhere but stealing is not ideal either
