Cholera is a bacterial/waterborne disease usually spread through contaminated water. In Nigeria, cholera spreads more during the rainy season as the disease itself is spread more in water. The classic symptom is large amounts of watery diarrhea that last a few days. Cholera continues to affect an estimated 3–5 million people worldwide and causes 28,800–130,000 deaths a year. Africa is currently considered an area with an ongoing risk of cholera disease.
