NDLEA Arrests Teenager for Attempted Cocaine Exportation

 The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) has arrested a 19 year old student identified as Benjamin Nnamani Daberechi  for attempting to export cocaine. The teenager who was intercepted at the Abuja International Airport had been found with 7.2 kilograms of methamphetamine carefully concealed in bags of crayfish. When interrogated, the teenager had claimed that he was on his way to Cyprus to commence his undergraduate studies.

The news of Daberechi's interception and subsequent arrest was publicly revealed by Director Media and Advocacy of the agency,  Femi Babafemi. The director posted a statement on the agency's Facebook page on Sunday 16th July, 2023. Femi Babafemi clarified that a field test of the substance found on the 19 year old, which was quite easily mistaken for cocaine due to shared similarities, however proved positive to Methamphetamine.  They statement also revealed that the teenager was arrested on Wednesday 12th July, during an outward clearance of passengers on Turkish Airlines flight TK 0624.
