Mexican Mayor Marries Crocodile;Says They Love Each Other

Victor Hugo Sosa, A mayor of San Pedro Huamelula, a small town in southern Mexico, has married a female crocodile under a centuries-old ritual believed to bring good fortune to his people. The reptile referred to as Alicia Adriana, is believed to be a deity representing Mother Earth and her marriage with the mayor symbolizes the joining of humans with the divine creature. The reptile is a caiman, an alligator-like marsh dweller endemic to Mexico and Central America. It also represents the "princess girl" in local lore.

According to the tradition, the marriage symbolises the peace between the Chontal and Huave Indigenous groups.Throughout the ceremony, Victor Hugo Sosa, passionately affirmed his devotion and love, underscoring the essence of these emotions in a marital bond. “I wholeheartedly accept this responsibility because we share a profound love. That is what truly matters. Love is the foundation of any marriage… I willingly enter into matrimony with the princess girl.” The new groom passionately declared.
