Nigerian track and field athlete Oluwatobiloba Ayomide Amusan better known as Tobi Amusan, has confirmed on social media that she has been charged with an antidoping rule violation by the Atheletics Integrity Unit. The athlete stated that she was charged because she missed 3 drugs tests within a 12 month period. Tobi Amusan who declared herself a "clean athlete" further added that she had been tested within days of her third "missed test". She heavily hinted that she got tested more than usual and vowed to fight the allegation early enough to defend her title at the World Championships taking place in Budapest in the month of August.

Tobi Amusan set the current world record for the women’s 100m hurdles of 12.12 seconds at last year’s World Athletics Championships. She is the current World, Commonwealth and African champion in the 100 m hurdles, as well as the meet record holder in those three competitions. Tobi Amusan became the first ever Nigerian world champion and world record holder in an athletics event when she won the 2022 World Championships 100 m hurdles gold medal, setting the current world record of 12.12 seconds (+0.9m/s) in the semi-final, followed by a 12.06 seconds (+2.5m/s) in the final. In 2022, Tobi received a Confederation of African Athletics Female Athlete of the Year Award.
