Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Southeast Governors Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma has put up a post on social media stating his intention to intervene in the ongoing power tussle between the Igbo residents /traders of Lagos and their host communities. This promised intervention comes after the demolition of shops owned by Igbos at the popular Alaba International Market, Ojo. The governor who was visiting Lagos to attend the meeting of the Nigeria Governors' Forum as well as to register his presence at the homecoming ceremony of Nigeria's president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, held a meeting with members of the Igbo community in order to listen to their plight and proffer solutions geared towards restoring their businesses as well as ensuring harmony amongst the concerned parties.

According to Hope Uzodimma the meeting with the Igbo community caused him emotional pain even though he encouraged the traders and business owners not to feel like second class citizens. The governor of Imo State also promised to meet with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in company of other delegates, so as to reach a resolution of expressed differences. Alongside the promise to address the differences between the Igbo and the Yoruba people resident in Lagos, Governor Hope Uzodimma encouraged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as a gesture of goodwill and unity.
