A 37 year old HIV Positive Male identified as Chiemela Victor Ekeke has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the sexual abuse of a 4 year old girl in Abia state. According to reports, Ekeke had snuck into the home of the four year's old parents (located at Ogbulafor street, Umuahia) after her mother had left the home to purchase some essential items. The now convicted sex offender was sentenced by a Magistrate Court in Umuahia after he pled guilty to three count charges of defilement. Ekeke who is a labourer and farmer from Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia stated confessed to being HIV Positive but claimed to have had his viral load "flushed away" by his doctor.

The convicted child rapist blamed the devil for his heinous crime and had initially claimed upon discovery by an irate crowd, that he had only carried the little girl on his laps. Delivering her judgement on the case, Presiding Magistrate, N. Lekwa, said that the court in the last sitting found Ekeke guilty of child defilement. The prosecution commended the court’s decision as consistent with the law concerning child defilement and sexual offenders.
