Governor of Imo State Increases Minimum Wage to #40,000:Gives Free Meal to Workers

 Following in the footsteps of Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo state, Senator Hope Uzodimma of Imo has announced the increase of the state's minimum wage to #40,000. The governor who put up a post on social media notifying the public of this increase, stated that the increment was part of a list of palliatives and intervention intended to help the people of Imo State cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal by the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration. He added his administration was not oblivion to the recent economic depression prevalent in the country.

In addition to the increase in minimum wage, Governor Hope Uzodimma further added that incentives such as free medical services and one free meal per day, will henceforth be given to workers in Imo State. The governor also assured that the state was earnestly working to revamp the Imo Transport Company so as to enable his administration offer mass transit to the residents of Imo state. Governor Hope Uzodimma pledged that an additional ten buses would be added to the fleet providing free transport services for workers in Imo state.
