Favour Daley: Court Sentences Ritualiist Mother and Son for the LASU Student Murder

A High Court in Osun State presided by Justice Christina Obadina has sentenced a mother and son to death by hanging. The mother and son alongside their prophet, had in 2019, brutally murdered a final year sociology student of the Lagos State University, named Favour Daley. The murdered student had been in a relationship with 23 year old Owolabi Adeeko and he had lured her to Ikire, Osun State all the way from Lagos under the guise of introducing her to his family. The boyfriend had connived with his 46 year old mother and another prophet of a Cherubim and Seraphim Church identified as Segun Phillips, to brutally murder Favour in order to secure her body parts for ritual purposes.

Favour was killed at the church after Owolabi repeatedly hit her on the head with a pestle. Afterwards, they harvested her organs for ritual purposes before her remains were buried in a shallow grave outside the church on December 8, 2019. The prosecution team told the court that few weeks later, the body was exhumed by the police after the suspects who confessed to the murder were apprehended.  The trio were first arraigned before the court in November 15, 2021 on two counts bordering on conspiracy and murder contrary to sections 324 and 319(1) of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Laws of Osun State, 2002. In her judgement, Justice Obadina said that the prosecuting counsel had proven her case beyond a reasonable doubt. She sentenced the boyfriend and prophet to death by hanging, while his mother Bola Adeeko was convicted for eating human flesh.
