Governor of Enugu State Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, is currently the recipient of social media backlash as netizens have trolled him for buying "foreign" cars. The governor made a post on his official social media platform announcing that he had set up a team of the newly branded Distress Rapid Squad (DRS) to patrol the streets of Enugu. He accompanied his announcement with a photo of newly purchased Hyundai squad vehicles and unintentionally invoked the ire of netizens.

According to the social media trolls, Peter Mbah should have showed support for Nigeria and its manufacturing industry by buying the indigenously produced cars from Innoson Motors. They further expressed disappointment in the governor for failing to support a brand owned by another Igbo man whom he (Peter Mbah) ought to consider a brother. These netizens forewarned the Enugu state governor that Hyundai vehicles aren't strong enough to navigate the rough Enugu roads unlike Innoson which would have been fully equipped to carry out the difficult task.
