A 39 year old female kindergarten teacher identified as Wang Yun, has been executed in China for poisoning 25 school children who had been attending the Mengmeng Preschool. The teacher was arrested and thereafter sentenced to death by the Jiaozuo city people's intermediate court located in Henan Province, China. Wang Yun had first been handed a death sentence by the court in 2020 and had unsuccessfully tried to appeal the sentence. On Thursday 13th July 2023, the same court verified her identity and had the convicted teacher escorted to her execution ground. It is not public knowledge the manner of execution through which the convicted murderer was punished. According to reports, The People's Republic of China is believed to yearly execute more prisoners than the rest of the world combined. Most executions are allegedly carried out with a bullet to the back of the condemned offender's head.

On March 27 2019, Wang Yun had obtained some sodium nitrate with which she poisoned the porridges of her pupils. The poisoned meals had led to the death of 1 pupil and left 24 others seriously sick. The now executed murderer had confessed at the time that she had poisoned the children in that class because she had been mad at a coworker who happened to be their class teacher. Further investigation discovered that Wang Yun had earlier in 2017, added the same poisonous sodium nitrate to her husband's tea after they had been engaged in an argument. Her husband had luckily survived the poisoning with mild injuries.
