69 Year old Tina Knowles, mother of music icon Beyonce, is set to divorce her second husband, American actor Richard Lawson, after 8 years of marriage. Tina filed the paperwork on Tuesday 25 July 2023, citing irreconcilable differences as a reason for the breakdown of her marriage. Beyonce's mother has asked the court to terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to her or her 76 year old soon-to-be ex-husband and has also asked for her name to be restored to Celestine Knowles as in the course of her marriage to the actor, she had legally changed her name to Celestine Lawson.

Tina Knowles and Richard Lawson started a romantic relationship in 2013 and got married aboard a yacht in Newport Beach on April 12, 2015. The marriage was a second attempt for the two as Tina was previously married to Matthew Knowles with whom she shares two kids, music star Beyonce and actress Solange. Tina and Matthew Knowles were married for 31 years before their divorce in 2011. Richard Lawson was married to his first wife, actress Denise Gordy, from New Year's Eve 1978 until 1989. They have one daughter, actress Bianca Lawson, born in 1979. Lawson also has a son named Ricky, born in 1992. Tina and Richard Lawson do not share any children together.
