14 year old Naeema Marshall has been shot to death by a 15 year old boy who had been crushing on her. According to reports, the murdered teenager had rejected the advances of the 15 year old unnamed male. Naeema who was originally a resident of Mitchell's Plain, Cape Town in South Africa, had been visiting an aunt in Eerste River when the 15 year old boy that she was familiar with entered the home and shot her in the head. He had reportedly been enraged at Neemah's rejection of his "love". The incident occurred on Monday 17th July 2023 and Neemah had until the time of her murder been a grade 9 student of Beacon Valley High School. She was also the last of five children born to her mother and was buried on the afternoon of Tuesday 18th July, according to Islamic rites.

Western Cape police spokesperson, Captain Frederick van Wyk confirmed that a case of murder is being investigated by the Antigang Unit detectives. He also revealed that the suspect had immediately fled the scene and is yet to be arrested. In Captain Frederick van Wyk's words: "Kleinvlei police registered a murder case following a shooting incident on Monday at 1pm at a premises in Budhi Crescent, New Forest Village, where a 14-year-old girl was shot and fatally wounded."
