Shock As Certified 'Dead' Woman Breaths Back To Life In Coffin


 An elderly Ecuadorean woman taken for dead was discovered to be alive, shocking mourners.


 76 year old Bella Montoya, after battling with stroke was last week declared dead but five hours into her wake on Friday, she was found to be surprisingly gasping for air by her relatives who were preparing to change her clothes ahead of the burial.


She has now been taken to the intensive care unit of the hospital, with the health Ministry in Ecuador setting up a committee to investigate the incident


The health ministry in a statement said that the woman went into cardiorespiratory arrest - a loss of breathing and heart function - and did not respond to resuscitation attempts.

The doctor on duty was said to have confirmed her death.


Local media in the country reported that her son, Gilber Rodolfo Balberán Montoya, said his mother had been "admitted around 09:00, and at noon a doctor told me [she] died".


She was then placed in a coffin for several hours until she was seen by family members trying to breathe.



Paramedics swung into action, observed her, before moving her on to a stretcher and into an ambulance.

She has now been taken to the intensive care unit in the same hospital where doctors declared her death


AFP news agency quoted her son Mr Balberán as saying: 


"Little by little, I am grasping what has happened. Now I only pray for my mother's health to improve. I want her alive and by my side."
