The Lagos State University has awarded a 500,000 naira cash prize to the best graduating student of the session. The student, Aminat Yusuf Imoitesemeh bagged a First Class with a CGPA of 5.00 from the faculty of law. Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the 26th convocation press conference held at the institution’s Senate building. Aminat's result was also acclaimed the best in the university's 40 year history.

Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello also announced that the convocation would also serve as a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Lagos State University, which was founded in 1983. The Vice Chancellor also revealed that 8 prominent Nigerians would be awarded honorary doctorate degrees.They are: former Governor Babatunde Fashola, Oba Alayeluwa Ademola Elegushi, Dr Daniel Olukoya, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Chief of Staff, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, Oba Suleiman Ashade, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire and current First Lady of Lagos State, Dr Ibijoke Claudiana Sanwo-Olu.
Congratulations to Aminat Yusuf Imoitesemeh on achieving this momentous academic feat.
