Commotion As Man Meant To Give Bride Out In Marriage Reportedly Steals Dowry

 A bride's relative assigned to give out her hand in marriage (waliyyi) has been accused of stealing her dowry just before the wedding ceremony in Kurna area of Dala LGA of Kano State.

According to reports, guests at the event were left waiting for the ceremony to commence but had to be placed in a long suspense as the dowry was not found.

A resident and eye witness in the event identified as Sunusi Dan Mamman, said after guests waited for a long time, they agreed to search all those in the vicinity but surprisingly the money was found in the pocket of a relative assigned to give her out in marriage.

“During the search, the money was found inside the pocket of the waliyyi. who said he didn’t know how they got into his pocket.

“On getting the money, the waliyyi was chased out of the mosque as he could not stand for the bride as her representative. His younger brother was assigned to stand for her and the wedding went on.”

Mamman said he could not say if the waliyyi was arrested after the wedding, as nobody knew for he was not sighted in the area after the wedding.
