"Workers Federal And State Governments Will Not Be Able To Pay You In June", Governor Obaseki Warns, Gives Reason


 The governor of Edo state,Godwin Obaseki has raised alarm over Nigeria's dwindling economy. The governor reacted to the recent report of the National Executive Council (NEC) suspending plan to remove fuel subsidy in June. 


Speaking on Monday, May 1st, the governor enjoined workers to brace up for the expected hardship that will accompany fuel subsidy removal. He explained that the Federal government due to the falling economy, will be unable to pay salaries without massive  money printing or fuel subsidy removal.


“Let me point out and highlight that even though we continue to struggle in Edo, working hard to make lives better for all of you, we are not oblivious of the fact that Nigeria is in tr%uble.

"The economy of our country is in a t£rrible state, it will be a miracle for the federal and state governments to pay salaries beyond June this year without resorting to massively printing money or removing fuel subsidy.

"Either of this decision will bring more hardships and p@ins to us as a people, particularly to you, workers. Therefore, we must all make sure that the burden and p@in of these measures, which must be taken are not borne by workers alone,” he said.
