Following the panic which broke out as a result of the news that some types of noodles have been confirmed to cause cancer, the National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has given a press release assuring Nigerians of the safety of noodles produced within Nigeria. The Agency stated that Indomie Instant noodles as well as other brands manufactured in the country is only granted registration status following a strict regulatory regime covering all aspects of Good Manufacturing Practices.

Director-General of NAFDAC, Professor Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye, also assured that the intially implicated noodles " Indomie Special Chicken Flavour" which is manufactured in Indonesia, has never been registered by NAFDAC for sale in Nigeria and is currently on the Import Prohibition List of the Federal Government of Nigeria. Hence, in the first place, the noodles should not be found at all within the country. The Agency's Director-General via the press release, further reassured Nigerians that "the agency is proactive and remains alive to her responsibilities of safeguarding the health of the public".
