Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool, has been punished by the English Football Association with a two-game suspension and a hefty fine.
It is recalled that following Liverpool's 4-3 victory against Tottenham in April, Jurgen Klopp questioned referee Paul Tierney's performance.
The FA announced that it will look into Jurgen Klopp's claim that the referee had something against him and his squad after criticizing the official at the post-game news conference.
Almost a month after the incident, on Monday, May 18, the FA said that Klopp had been given a two-game suspension from coaching.
This implies that when Liverpool plays Aston Villa at Anfield Stadium on Saturday, the German coach won't be anywhere near the sidelines.
However, he would miss the match against Southampton on May 28 because he is scheduled to serve his second ban at the season's last contest in 2023–2024.
Jurgen Klopp has now received a hefty £75,000 fine in addition to the two-match suspension for his remark towards the referee.
Prior to tonight, both Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp expressed regret for the coach's remark towards the referee, but that was insufficient to save him from receiving a penalty.
The two-game suspension has not prompted an official response from Klopp or Liverpool as of the time this news was published.
