Atiku Abubakar Blows Hot In His Reaction To Supreme Court Trashing Of His Suit Against Kashim Shettima

Earlier today, the Supreme Court of Nigeria dismissed a suit brought against Nigeria's vice president elect, Kashim Shettima by the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

The PDP approached the supreme court after an appeal court had dismissed its suit which challenged Kashim Shettima's eligibility to contest the February 25th, 2023 presidential election over his double nomination by his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC). 

The PDP claims that Kashim Shettima had been nominated by his party for senatorial election before he emerged the APC's vice presidential candidate without his being denominated by his party for the senatorial election. An act which contravenes Nigeria's 2022 Electoral Act and which amounts to disqualification.

In its ruling, the supreme court held that the People's Democratic Party ( the appellant) was not qualified to bring the matter to court because the appellant was not a member of the APC. 

Reacting to the Supreme Court ruling, the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar maintained that he is unwavering in  his pursuit of electoral justice over the 2023 presidential election which Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a controversial manner, emerged president elect.

"The battle for democracy and the enthronement of a new order to spur growth and development in Nigeria is one to which I have committed my all and for which I am not ready to walk away at this point when our nation is at crossroads. We know that sooner than later, our esteemed Justices will make the pronouncement that will serve as a befitting requiem for mandate bandits. " I urge my supporters to exercise patience and conduct themselves peaceably as we diligently conduct our litigation at the Presidential Election Tribunal Court".
