Professor Wole Soyinka came under fire over his comment on Tv in which he referred to the supporters of Peter Obi as fascists.
Yesterday, 11th of April, 2023, the Arise Tv hosted Nigerian born American writer, Chimamanda Adichie over her viral letter to the president of America concerning Nigeria's controversial February 25th presidential election.
While reacting to Wole Soyinka's infamous remark about Peter Obi's supporters, Chimamanda Adichie stated that the noble laurent "lacks restraint" in his choice of words.
“Soyinka LACKS restraint for use of words, INEC told us what to expect from the elections, the excuse of technical glitches is unconvincing, and the word Fascist should rather be used for INEC”
She further accused the Nigerian authority of being undemocratic especially as the wish of Nigerians as expressed in the 2023 presidential election appeared thwarted by the authority.
There is an authoritarianism, which is obviously the basis of Fascism (at the core of manipulating an election), because what you are doing is, “you are gagging people, & you are forcibly taking away their voice.”
