One day after controversial journalist Kemi Omololu Olunloyo made a post on 13 April 2023 alleging that music star Tiwa Savage had escaped a kidnap attempt organised by her domestic staff and spearheaded by her driver, the singer's management has released an official statement via her social media handle, affirming Ms Olunloyo's claim. In the press release dated Friday 14th April 2023, posted by the singer's management Everything Savage LTD, they confirmed that on Thursday 13th April 2023, there had been a major breach of security at the musician's residence.

The press release further revealed that a number of suspects had been caught and currently held for investigation at Alagbon Police station, Ikoyi. The singer's management also assured the public that Ms Savage and her family were safe and unharmed. Ms Kemi Omololu Olunloyo had first broke this story while simultaneously admonishing celebrities to the wary and cautious of their domestic staff. She had also assured fans of the music star that she was ok but in seclusion.
Nigerians reacted with amazement to the revelation of the attempted kidnap of Tiwa Savage. Fans and followers took to social media to send heartfelt commiseratory messages to the singer while urging her to "remain safe". Fans expressed relief and gratitude that the singer had escaped the ordeal unhurt.
