The forward for Lazio, Ciro Immobile, was involved in a car accident in Rome on Sunday, breaking a rib and injuring his back. The Serie A club said on Sunday that Immobile is currently being monitored in a hospital.

"Footballer Ciro Immobile suffered a spinal distortion injury and a compound fracture of the right XI rib earlier today, following a car accident," Lazio stated in a statement.
"At this time, the condition is good. The footballer stays under perception in the crisis medication office... of the Agostino Gemelli IRCCS College Polyclinic in Rome."
Sky Sport Italy reported that Immobile was traveling in the car with his two daughters. The 33-year-old forward also claimed to have told police that the tram had run a red light.
Seven others, including cable car travelers, were additionally taken to clinic for checks.
This season, Immobile has led Lazio to second place in the Serie A standings, behind leaders Napoli, with 10 goals.
