Nigerian Christians have been thrown into controversial frenzy as Oluwagbemileke Adeboye, son of Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, revealed in an interview that he made his first 1 million naira from selling wristbands. The wristbands sold by Leke are the rubber type usually inscribed with prophetic messages and sold to the members of the Redeemed congregation.

Leke Adeboye who had made this financial revelation while discussing secrets to financial freedom with ”School Of Wealth” stated that in order to gain financial freedom, people keep focusing on the big things while neglecting the small things that turn out to be extremely profitable. Nigerian Christians have lashed out at Leke Adeboye by referring to him as "deceitful". Many said that while he had been making money from selling the wristbands, Christian faithfuls had been purchasing these bands in hope that the bands would be some sort of good luck charm capable of turning their fortunes around.
