Amidst the ongoing social media debate amongst Nigerian men and women since the alleged revelation that footballer Achraf Hakimi, had given his assets to his mother in order to prevent his soon-to-be ex-wife from walking away with a huge portion of his wealth, Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor better known as Rema, has penned his opinion on the matter. The 22 year old singer revealed in an interview with Z100 New York, that he earned his first 1 million naira at the age of 17 and also handed the entire sum to his mother at the time.

Rema disclosed that he gave the entire sum of 1 million naira to his mother because she had the person whom he knew needed the money the most, at the time. The singer stated that even though it would have sounded cool at the age of 17 to have spent the money on a luxurious lifestyle, he knew that he couldn't live a life of luxury while his family was in need. Rema went on to say that his biggest achievement is constantly being able to provide for his family. The singer also asserted that he enjoyed creating opportunities for others because he had been privileged to find opportunities for himself.
