Alfa Rafiu, a Nigerian man, was arrested after it was discovered that he had been spending the money that had been deposited to his account in error.
According to Tribune, a total of N280 million was inadvertently wired to his account in multiple payments.
Alfa Rafiu, an inhabitant of the Akuji compound in the Ilorin West Local Government Area's Abayowa Area, started using the money without informing the police.

Witnesses claimed they were suspicious of Sofa Radius's source of riches after observing his sudden lavish lifestyle, which included the purchase of a car.
A close friend of the victim's witness gave a first account of the incident:
"Instead of him calling the bank's attention to the big amount that was inadvertently deposited to his account, he went on a driving rampage.Rafiu purchased residences, automobiles, and supported pilgrims to the smaller Hajj. Even though he showed generosity to many individuals in the neighborhood, some locals were taken aback by his unexpected affluence as a POS operator”.
The police public relations officer, Ajayi Okansanmi (SP), confirmed the arrest to the official website and stated that the matter had been sent to Lagos.
He said:
“We can confirm the incident but it is Lagos until that are currently investigating the matter as it has been transferred to them.”
