In an interview with pressure Chude Jideonwo on an episode of the show With Chude, the PDP's gubernatorial candidate for Lagos State Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran aka Jandor, extolled the qualities of his deputy aspirant, actress and producer Funke Akindele. When asked by Chude why the governorship candidate chose Funke Akindele to be his running mate, Jandor candidly stated that Funke is a lawyer with great managerial and leadership evidenced in her professional career. Jandor further stated that if put side by side Funke Akindele, the current governor of Lagos Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, are no match for the actress turned politician.
Abdul-Azeez further emphasized his loyalty to his deputy by declaring that he had been defending his choice of having Funke as running mate and would continue to do so. He declared that Funke was a huge value to his gubernatorial ticket and the opposition obviously consider the actress and her popularity a threat to the status quo, hence their desperate need to discredit her.
