Nollywood actress,Tonto Dikeh who was nominated the deputy governorship candidate of the Alliance For Democratic Change (ADC) for the March 18th governorship election, has withdrawn from the governorship race alongside with her principal, Tonte Ibraye.
Tonte Ibraye, the governorship candidate of the ADC, announced in a media briefing that himself and Tonto Dikeh have decided to throw their weight behind the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Tonye Cole. According to him, Tonye Cole has proven himself in the business world and that his track record shows that he is a unifier who is capable of uniting the people of Rivers State.
Tonte Ibraye further disclosed that the major opposition parties in the state have declared their support for Tonye Cole over his being a detribalised politician.
He denied that himself and Tonto Dikeh have been paid to withdraw from the race and declare support for the APC candidate. According to him, all the Rivers State House of Assembly aspirants under the ADC are still in the race as the withdrawal only affects the governorship position.
