Spending Activated: Supreme Court Noulifies Naira Swap Policy, Old Notes valid Till Dec. 31st


  The Supreme Court has ordered the validity of old naira notes to December 2023.


The new naira note a redesigned policy imposed by the Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN), was faulted by the Supreme Court as implementation of naira notes swaps invalid and insult to the 1999 Constitution.


The court said the policy has led to some people engaging in trade by barter in this modern age in a bid to survive.

However, the former President, Muhammadu Buhari , had already declared that the coexisting of the old 200 naira notes  and the redesigned  200,500, and 1000 naira new notes should be put in place by the (CBN) .


The Supreme Court judgment comes three weeks after  Buhari declared that old 500 and 1000 naira notes have come to be legal in Nigeria.
