Nigerian singer and songwriter Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, is currently being trolled by netizens for her choice of outfit to the 95th Annual Academy Awards popularly known as The Oscars, which took place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California, on the evening of Sunday 12th March, 2023. Tems was nominated for the 2023 edition of the Oscars in the category of Best Original Song courtesy of a collaboration she had on the song, “Lift Me Up” with popular singer, Rihanna; music producer, Ludwig Göransson; and Black Panther's director, Ryan Coogler.
Tems who attended the award show donned in a flowing white net-like dress with an extension resembling a peacock-like headpiece, has been labelled winner of "the most selfish gown" award by social media users. The attached head extension to Tems's dress had visibly obstructed the view of the award's attendees who were seated behind the singer. Trolls further described Tems's choice of attire as disrespectful to the other guests at the award's while others squarely blamed her fashion designer and publicity team for not helping her choose the right outfit for such a prestigious awards. Yet others cruelly stated that it was indeed the singer's first time of attending such an event, hence, the debacle caused by her dress being a pure case of "Johnny Just Come" AKA JJC.
