A popular Facebook influencer and writer Chioma Ifeanyi-Eze, has narrated to the public how a friend's husband had asked her friend to close down her booming restaurant because he did not like the way men kept staring at his wife's hips each time he walked into the place. The writer further wrote that the woman's husband asked his wife start any other business that would reduce her exposure to men while promising to fund the business.
The writer who made excuses for her friend's husband by referring to him as "a good man" stated that she advised her friend to negotiate with him since she truly loved the business. They proposed to the insecure husband that the wife hired a manager and reduced her physical presence at the restaurant, as well as changing her mode of dressing by wearing "bubus" and free dresses. The insecure and jealous husband reportedly loved the negotiations and agreed to them.
Nigerians have reacted harshly to the story by calling it fabricated. Yet others termed it the hallmark of patriarchy while wondering if any male gynaecologist had been asked to quit his job because "his wife" was uncomfortable with it.
