Celina and Joseph Quinones had been a couple for 17 years and married for 10 years when Celina decided to investigate her family tree in 2017 by taking an ancestry DNA. The couple lives in Colorado, USA and have three children together. Celina took to the social media platform TikTok with the handle @realestatemommas to narrate how she discovered that she was related to her husband, Joseph. Celina wrote: "Married my husband in 2006. Not thinking anything of it we had three kids. Come to find out we were related and cousins." Celina then urged other couples to check their heritage.
The TikTok clip quickly went viral and has now had over four million views, with many people posting negative comments about their marriage and strongly urging the Quinones to get separated. Defending her marriage, Celina Quinones said that they had no idea they were related in the course of their courtship. She stated: "17 years with my cousband. No, we didn't know till we did a DNA test. We had a four-month courtship before we got married," she explained in another video," adding, "He is still and will be my everything. I ain't gonna let a little bit of blood destroy what we created, this beautiful family."
Celina fired back at people who criticised her union by telling them that it was so easy to throw around the word "divorce" and there was no way she'd tell her children that they their parents chose to get divorced because of other people's opinions. She further retorted that her children were healthy with "ten toes and ten fingers" and suffered no genetic anomalies.
