How Many Senators Does The LP, APC, PDP Have

 


As the Nigeria presidential and National Assembly elections were rounded off on the 25th/26th of February, 2023, the Exola Tv looks at the number of senators the major political parties in Nigeria will have in the 10th Senate Assembly.

The Exola Tv understands that out of the 109 senators from the 9th Senate Assembly, only 30 of them will also make up the 10th Senate Assembly. Some of the members of the 9th Senate Assembly lost their parties' ticket, some willfully didn't contest reelection while some failed to secure victory at the just concluded national assembly elections.

Senator Rochas Okorocha- APC, Imo West; Ibikunle Amosun, APC, Ogun Central and Ajayi Robert Borrofice, APC, Ondo North had disclosed their disinterest in seeking reelection.

Also, senator  Ike Ekweremmadu- PDP, Enugu West due to his organ trafficking controversy, did not seek reelection.

As the 9th Senate rounds off in June, indications have emerged that of the present lawmakers in the Red Chamber, 30 of them won re-election. The ruling APC has majority of the senators-elect with 51 seats; the has 27 seats; Labour Party, LP 7 slots; New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, three seats; and Social Democratic Party, SDP, two seats. The Young Progressives Party, YPP and All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA have one seat each.
