Former actor and incumbent lawmaker representing Surulere constituency, Olushola Desmond Elliott has won his reelection bid to remain a lawmaker at the Lagos State House of Assembly. Desmond Elliott who was the subject of harsh criticism and trolling across social media platforms for weeks leading to the election, to the surprise of many Nigerians defeated other aspirants in a landslide victory of 7, 822 votes, despite repeated threats from the public vowing that the incumbent lawmaker would ''be sent back to Nollywood".
Desmond Elliott's seemingly strongest contender Olumide Oworu of the Labour Party to the shock of many, had had his name missing on the list of aspiring lawmakers for the Surulere constituency. An unknown male named Adebayo Bode had instead, been displayed on the list as the Labour Party's aspirant. The public is yet to receive any explanation from the Labour Party or Olumide Oworu as to the rather surprising and last minute name change.
