An unnamed female student of the Yaba College of Technology Lagos(Yabatech)has reportedly attempted suicide after being jilted by her boyfriend. The student allegedly tried to kill herself by drinking two bottles of the deadly insecticide popularly known as Sniper. The incident took place within the Polytechnic's premises in a hostel identified as "Akata hostel".
Further reports state that the student who committed attempted suicide did so one hour after her boyfriend ended their romantic relationship. Unconfirmed stories went on to state that the student had recently terminated a pregnancy on the request of her boyfriend. Upon discovery of her unconscious form, the student was rushed to the school's health center and is reportedly in critical condition. Fellow students of the polytechnic gathered in droves to discuss the unfortunate incident while simultaneously wondering why the suicide victim chose to attempt the act.
