Following the death of Whitney Adeniran, a student of Chrisland Schools, Opebi Ikeja, who reportedly died during the school's interhouse sports competition, the Lagos state government has ordered the temporary closure of the school. A press release by the state's commissioner of Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo stated that the school's closure would be until full investigation is conducted as to the cause of Whitney's death.

In an earlier video, Blessing Adeniran, mother of the deceased student had accused Chrisland Schools of negligence and failure to provide first aid medical service for students who were taking part in the interhouse sports competition at Agege, Lagos. She decried the fact that her daughter had been declared "Dead on Arrival" at the hospital.
Mrs Adeniran further stated that the school had been nonchalant about her daughter's health and had taken her to a local immunisation center (Agege Central Hospital) instead of a proper and standard medical facility. Unconfirmed reports have revealed that Whitney Adeniran died from electrocution at the school and not as a result of underlying health conditions as the school insists upon.
