Nollywood actor and model Olumide Oworu has declared his intention to run represent Surulere constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly in the forthcoming elections. Olumide Oworu who announced his candidacy under the Labour Party will be running against his senior colleague Desmond Elliott who is consecutively running for third term under the All Progressive Congress (APC). He made his public declaration via his official Instagram page.

Olumide Oworu is popular for his role as "Tari Johnson" in the Africa Magic Series "The Johnsons". Colleagues, followers and friends of Olumide took to the post to send him their congratulatory messages and expressed solidarity towards his goal. Olumide Oworu won the Most Promising actor in the 2015 Best of Nollywood Awards and Best Supporting actor for his role in the Soldier's Story in the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
