Breaking: PDP Governorship Candidate In Abia state, Uche Ikonne is Dead

The governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia, Uche Ikonne has been reported dead. 

Uche Ikonne who is the anointed governorship candidate of the incumbent governor of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu has been grappling with ill-health and unable to actively campaign in the state even as the campaign window draws to a close.

Many are curious about what the fate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) will be in Abia state having lost their flag bearer. However, the 2022 electoral Act has explicitly stated that in a context like this, the running mate of the deceased flag bearer replaces the deceased candidate.

Interestingly, different permutations on the Abia state governorship election suggest that the candidate of the Labour Party, Alex Otti stands  the best chance to succeed Okezie Ikpeazu.
