Many have suggested that governor Nyesom Wike's refusal to support the presidential candidate of his party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is not just about the North dominating leadership positions of the party but due to Atiku's choice of a running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.
Wike was chosen by the Vice presidential committee instituted by Atiku Abubakar after the PDP's presidential primary election. However, Atiku Abubakar went against the recommendation of the committee and chose Ifeanyi Okowa at Wike's expense.
Consequently, the two governors of oil-rich Niger-delta states have been in cold war with each other.
Interestingly, while Okowa was on a troubleshooting mission in Benue state with the aim to pacify the members of the integrity group also known as G5, he was oblivious of Wike's arrival at same airport.
As shown in the video, governor Ortom left Okowa prematurely to go to welcome Wike. Also, Okowa was not interested in meeting with Wike at the airport; hence, left for a private location where he will be meeting with Governor Ortom.
