Nollywood actress, producer, influencer and show host, Mercy Johnson-Okojie has been the recipient of a great deal of backlash from fans and other netizens as a result of her open show of solidarity for the All Progressives Congress. Many urged her to solely support her husband but not try to publicly sell APC as a good political party. Two days ago, the actress joined Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the women leaders and other members of the APC's presidential team at the party's southwest rally. The actress stated that she is confident in APC’s plan for women which is in line with 35% affirmative action for women.

Mercy Johnson-Okojie is married to Prince Odianonsen Okojie, a hotelier, businessman and politician who earlier in May, won the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the 2023 elections in Esan North East/ South East federal constituency of Edo State. Prince Okojie has publicly defended his wife against netizens and appreciated her for her support. He wrote: “@mercyjohnsonokojie my dear wife and best friend, thanks a lot for your support, you have always stood where I stand, you‘re an amazing woman. We will work hard for Nigeria, I love you and God bless you.”
