31 year old Tochukwu Edeh had been arrested by the police over the murder of his 48 year old lover Phyllis Ijeoma. The pair had reportedly connected on a Facebook group and afterwards, became live-in lovers at Ijeoma's two bedroom apartment in Lugbe, Abuja.
Tochukwu confessed to have repeatedly hit Ijeoma with a pestle in the middle of a heated argument. He thereafter wrapped her motionless body in a rug and fled with a Toyota Camry, phone and other items that belonged to his lover. Tochukwu was arrested on 2nd November 2023, after forging ownership change of the Camry and selling it for a reported sum of 1.7 million naira.

Ijeoma's corpse was discovered by her elder sister who had received a call from the deceased's caretaker that Ijeoma had neither been seen nor heard from in days and it was unusual. Upon arrival and inability to gain entry into the apartment, the police was involved and they retrieved the already smelly corpse of Ijeoma which had be wrapped in a rug by her murderer. The corpse was deposited at the mortuary in Gwagwalada Hospital.
