Recall that the Federal government of Nigeria announced that the second Niger Bridge will be open for thirty days to ease vehicular traffic to and from the southeastern part of Nigeria.
The opening of the second Niger Bridge happened today, December 15th, 2022. According to official statement, it usage will be suspended January 15th, 2023.
Interestingly, motorists who used the bridge today after its opening, confirmed that the development will be of immense benefit to commuters especially during the yuletide.
The Niger Bridge is notorious for horrible vehicular traffic as travellers spend several hours before their passage.
The second Niger Bridge completion lingered for more than two decades before the administration of Muhammadu Buhari completed it. There are speculations that it will be named after president Muhammadu Buhari despite his lack of acceptance among the Ndi Igbo who alleged blatant marginalization by his administration.
